This year (2024) Australasian Lawyer and NZ Lawyer have recognised Insource as one of their nineteen best legal tech and legal service providers in Australia and New Zealand. We have been recognised in the category – “Other – legal technology – recruitment software”. You can read this year’s special report and see the full list of winners, here.
The award is a recognition of the growth and impact Insource’s legal recruitment database has had on those legal firms currently using the technology, across both sides of the Tasman. Insource offers a cost-effective alternative to traditional recruitment methods. Insource’s database of over 100,000 qualified Australian and New Zealand lawyers and legal executives puts firms in control of their own legal recruitment and has been proven to save firms time and money, as this client testimonial from Macpherson Kelley demonstrates.
Recognition for our founder’s vision
Insource was launched in 2021 with the clear vision of enabling law firms, and in-house legal teams to find, attract and retain the top legal talent. Put simply, Insource is a new way to hire quality and specialist professionals at a fraction of the time and cost.
On being recognised by Australasian Lawyer and NZ Lawyer (The Lawyer Mag), Insource founder Jenn Little said “We are delighted to have been recognised as one of the nineteen top legal tech and legal service providers across Australia and NZ in 2024. It is a well-deserved recognition of and testament to our team’s hard work and commitment. It is also recognition for all our clients who have adopted and gained real value in using the Insource legal recruitment platform and they are our biggest advocates, recommending our solution to their networks”.
Facing the challenge of a law firm’s biggest expense
The 2024 ALPMA/Dye & Durham report on ‘Australian Changing Legal Landscape” which is referenced in The Lawyer Mag’s report accompanying these awards, shows that in the Australasian legal industry, 64% now believe that technology is critical to them being able to do their job, with a further 23% believing it is very important.
The report also shows that only 14% of firms are taking advantage of legal recruitment platforms. However, one of the biggest expenses for the majority of law firms is the hiring and onboarding of leading legal talent.
As Jenn explains, “It is excellent to see law firms embracing tech more and more to drive efficiencies and streamline processes within their business operations and to deliver client work. With the increase in the development of AI, firms are beginning to widen their lens to what other areas they should be leveraging technology in to drive efficiencies and cost savings and ultimately create long-term sustainable growth. The next stage for firms is to engage tech to finally take control of one of their largest expense items, the recruitment of legal talent.”
Jenn continues, “Recruitment spend is one of the highest costs for many firms and often leads to an overspend against the original budget at the end of each financial year. According to the Beacon Legal Australian Private Practice 2024/2025 Salary and Market Report, the average starting salary in mid-tier law firms for a lawyer with 2 years PAE is now $105,0000, which means an average recruitment fee of around $21,000 per hire at this level alone. Imagine what firms could do if they could reduce their recruitment spend by upwards of 30% or more like Macpherson Kelley and other firms are achieving by enabling their people and culture teams with the right recruitment tools.”
Jenn concludes “By using Insource and adopting a proactive approach to recruitment and investing in talent pipelining, law firms can gain access to high-quality talent, improve retention, reduce their time to hire, save on recruitment costs and stay ahead in the war for talent.”.
